OVERVIEW & TARGET STUDENT
A Fall Equinox Summit Hike & Reflection
Celebrate the turning of the seasons with a intentional, one-day workshop dedicated to the Fall Equinox and the direction of the West—the traditional realm of harvest, gratitude, setting suns, and quiet reflection. Together, we will hike to the summit of Mount Boucherie, a weathered, 50-million-year-old stratovolcano, using the steady climb as an active metaphor for looking back on the light half of the year and stepping into autumn's rest.
The Journey & Activities:
Volcanic Summit Hike: Ascend Mount Boucherie (4 km out-and-back, 226m elevation gain) along steep switchbacks, stair sections, and gravel treads, taking in sweeping panoramic views and unique volcanic geology.
Solar Tracking & Intentions: Observe and track the path of the Equinox sun as we reach key lookout points.
Shedding & Letting Go: Through a guided smudging and journal exercise, write down what you are ready to release from the brighter months—mimicking the natural shedding of autumn leaves.
Honoring the West: Offer a quiet word of thanks to the Western direction, honoring the fading warmth of summer and welcoming the oncoming season of rest and renewal.
Requirements & Prerequisites:
Physical Fitness: Participants must be capable of navigating rigorous, moderate-to-steep terrain with steady elevation gain.
Open Mindset: Come ready to embrace the changing season as a fresh start.
Inclusivity First: While this workshop incorporates reflective and earth-honoring practices, spirituality is completely optional. We are warmly inclusive and open to all belief systems, backgrounds, and personal philosophies.
