Mikayla Petrie

Hi! I’m Mikayla! I grew up on Prince Edward Island and moved to Kelowna three years ago. I miss the ocean, but am so happy to explore the mountains and forests of BC. 

I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Master of Educational Studies in Sustainability and Regeneration from the University of British Columbia. I love helping young people build confidence, ask questions, and discover the amazing things nature has to teach us.

Outside of school, you can usually find me hiking, trail running, climbing, skiing, reading a good book, writing stories, or listening to music.  One of my favourite things is learning how to identify plants, animals, and the learn and listen to stories of the places around us. I believe that the more we know about the natural world, the more we care for it. I love to learn new things all the time- this summer I’m learning how to garden and grow some of my own food! I am so excited to explore and learn together this year!
